Tarps can provide survivors with a quick-to-set-up, windproof, waterproof shelter. – Ratings on this tarp are nearly identical to the DD Tarps. We use these and the DD Tarps regularly. We still recommend using the higher quality stakes and paracord linked on this page, rather than relying on those provided with the tarp.

- DD Tarp 10’x10’ (more expensive option – better quality)
In our opinion, quality stakes are essential, especially for SAR techs, as many terrains require sturdy anchoring for tarp shelters. The aluminum stakes are a compromise between weight and durability.
LIGHTWEIGHT TENT STAKE HAMMER:
If working in rocky terrain, consider carrying a lightweight stake hammer.
LIGHTWEIGHT FOLDING SAW:
This saw is lightweight and features bi-directional teeth, ensuring efficient cutting through large volumes of wood.
3/4 TANG MORA KNIFE:
This 3/4 Tang Knife offers quality at an affordable price. We do not recommend heavy batoning with this knife.
FULL TANG MORA KNIFE:
For batoning firewood we recommend a full tang knife.

3M MULTI USE TAPE:
Most often known as “Duct Tape” this 3M Heavy Duty tape is a great choice anytime your outdoors. We use high visibility colors, but offer low vis colors as well.
CARABINERS:
Hook up your paracord with carabiners for quick and easy organization of your loops and hanks!
HOT KNIFE:
A hot knife allows you to precisely cut and seal paracord all at once. It is a great tool for SAR units, instructors and other larger groups or classes.
Do not skimp on a tourniquet, quality is of the utmost importance when it’s a matter of life and death. We recommend that everyone has a tourniquet with them when in the field and is trained in its use.
